I did the Penny Roberts School of Cookery Course this year and must say it was a worthwhile three weeks.  Where the time flew too I do not know, but from de-boning chicken, to skinning Sole, to sauces 1, 2, 3 and desserts to die for, we sure packed in the full three weeks.  Not only has she given me the confidence I need, but she has also taught me simplicity of things.  I now face things with an "I can do it" attitude.

Lots of laughs were had by all and I can thoroughly recommend this course to anyone wanting to join a boat or not.

Penny and David Roberts’ cooking school was just what I had hoped for: something to brush up my skills and become certified in a professional and recognised course. This has enabled me to further my cooking career within the yachting industry.

Penny has an unlimited reservoir of energy and enthusiasm. We nicknamed her the ‘Ever-ready Penny’! She covered as much as she could possibly squeeze into those three weeks. Not only did I come away with heaps of new-found knowledge of the trade, I came away with some wonderful friendships made with other students, as well as Penny and David themselves. With their support I have gained the confidence and inspiration to have made my career change.

I would highly recommend this course and can assure that it is time and money well spent. It certainly worked for me!

I now know how much I don’t know! The three week course with Penny was practical and inspiring. From 8.30 to 6.30 each day we learnt more than we thought possible in three weeks and would have been happy to stay for another three. The things I learnt on the course have set me up for a whole new career, on and off boats. Being around Penny was a really positive experience; she is an amazing woman (especially with the hindsight I’ve gained working in a galley every day).

So good to hear you are still busy with the School, knew you would be and yes, I have always recommended it wholeheartedly. My job on Adelita was fantastic and the owners, guests and crew were all delighted with my food. Well, that’s what they said in front of me, anyway.

Sorry I was never in touch, thought of you a lot, especially in sticky situations – which were never a big deal with your coaching. Thanks again.

…..although I have not been in touch I have not forgotten you both or how much you gave me in the time I was with you.
